Fantastic bed and attention to detail in the room. Really comfortable and beautifully decorated. One of the best hotels I have stayed in.
Everything! Amazingly Beautiful Hotel. The bed, sheets & pillows are incredible! That is the most important thing in a hotel is a good night sleep & you want to sleep as soon as you hit the pillow. perfection!
Amazing hotel. Spacious, comfortable rooms with great views and beautiful decor. Fantastic breakfast, extremely friendly and helpful staff. This is not a cheap hotel to stay in but it was worth every penny.
Love the location, the feeling of luxury in a smaller hotel and the groovy vibe.
I liked the convenience of being close to everything and getting in a good walk each day.
We had a problem with the heat in our room (none) for the four days we were there. It never got resolved and finally on the fourth night, we were given a portable heater.
Design, location, breakfast, quality
The staff were fantastic; the room was wonderful. It was quiet--a really solid building. The breakfast, which was included, was okay, although limited (if you want a huge buffet, you won't get it, but the food is high quality). The bathrobes were kick-ass; the toiletries were also very nice. I had a suite, and it had a bigger TV in my bedroom than I have at home (but I didn't watch it so I can't say anything about the programming).
I am tired of hotels that have the Keurig system because it's wasteful and really limited. but it appears that this is the trend these days. However, with that in mind, this place gave you four cups of different types of coffee, one of tea and one of hot chocolate. So if you like that system, you'll be well served. The desk had a chair that was totally inappropriate for desk work, although it looked good in the very stylish room. Note, when I asked, they brought me a proper desk chair immediately. I mean, within 5 minutes. Other than the coffee issue, I have no complaints.
Staff was very helpful and friendly. The room had everything you could need. It was such a comfortable stay I almost forgot I was on a business trip. Jory who worked the breakfast of my stay was extremely busy due to all the conferences in the area...but that did not slow him down. Jory made sure everyone was comfortable had constantly had the coffee topped off. All star employee!
Excellent hotel. Room was clean & comfortable, everything was modern & new. Breakfast included was delicious. Location was great right in downtown with river & park close by for walks. Overall great service and would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to stay in Saskatoon.
They had vacancies when we were there so they upgraded us to their best suite. The decor was wonderful. Modern neo-60's retro very recently done with quality materials and beautifully matched furniture. The included breakfast was excellent. More than a typical continental, but too minimized to be called a buffet breakfast. Attended by an omlette chef.
They got the luxuries but missed the basics. A balcony with a "lovely" view of some building mechancicals and a parkade. A comfortable king sized bed jammed into a room of the same size. They provide.soft terry bath robes, but have no spa, pool,or sauna facilities to wear them to. Two nice sized tv's: one in front of an attractive but horribly uncomfortable couch, the other squeezed off to the side of the bed... Comfortable to watch if you are standing beside the bed. On the tv subject, they use LodgeNet tv, nice if you want a first-run movie without leaving the room ($18), but a horrible interface if you try to use it as a tv. Possibly you can get a navigable channel guide if you install the proprietory app on your smart phone, seriously, that is not even a joke, it is what the on-screen guide suggested. Finally, (for me, the deal-breaker) they had a very attractive, deep, and very short tub but had frustratingly low.water pressure. To conclude: The James is form without function. Spend half as much elsewhere and get far more of the luxuries you expect when travelling.
I particularly appreciated the staff, all of whom were friendly and efficient without being obsequious. I also liked the interior decoration -- particularly the bathroom fixtures. The bed was very comfortable and I did appreciate the complimentary breakfast in the Odessa room where both the chef and the server were very accommodating.
Welllll, there is the price which I know given the location and the appointments is probably to be expected but a bit expensive for those of us who are not on an expense account.
One small comment. The king size bed was really too big for the room. It was a wonderful, comfortable bed with lovely linens, pillows etc, but not much room to get around to the far side. I don't believe this is true of all rooms, but I would ask about this next time.
the service was stellar. Really, the staff was extremely courteous and very helpful. The rooms were beautiful, great pillows, such comfy big beds, wonderful towels and great light thru the large windows. Also, Ipod players, great ice buckets, well stocked fridge and terrific bath products. Was not expecting it to be that wonderful. Saskatoon really has become a trendy little city. Bravo!
Great hotel and would stay again but those couches in grey velour look like something out of a neighbors garage sale and are as comfortable a a bus seat.
Loved everything especially the staff, all was excellent
